Named lectures

Every year we organise a series of public lectures with eminent figures from the world of statistics and public policy. They attract large audiences representing professional statisticians, social researchers, policy-makers and advisors plus many more.

As well as our regular programme, we also organise one-off events, so do check our calendar regularly.

Barnett lecture

This lecture, named after environmental statistician Vic Barnett, takes place every year at our annual conference.

Beveridge memorial lecture

This lecture, named after economist and social reformer Sir William Beveridge, takes place every two years and promotes the value of statistics to wider society.

Campion lecture

Annual lecture named after Sir Harry Campion, the first director of the Central Statistical Office and former RSS president. Takes place at the RSS annual conference.

Cathie Marsh memorial lecture

This annual event is named in honour of Cathie Marsh, an inspirational social scientist and is organised with the Social Research Association.
