This online seminar will be given by Ayse Bilgin, former President of the
International Association for Statistical Education.
The
International Association for Statistical Education, IASE, is one of the seven associations of the
International Statistical Institute (ISI). Since its formal formation in 1993, IASE has become a very active international organization. IASE aims to advance statistical education at all levels, from primary school through training of professionals as well as to the general public. IASE facilitates global collaboration to cover and progress the wide spectrum of statistical sciences and applications. IASE organizes international conferences, forums, roundtables, the
International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP), prizes, and competitions. It publishes a research journal (
Statistics Education Research Journal, SERJ),
conference proceedings,
newsletters and organises
webinars. It joins in activities and committees with ISI and its Associations and participates in other statistical educational undertakings. In this talk, I will talk about the history of IASE and its activities and how you can become a member of IASE.

Ayse Aysin Bilgin, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
Ayse works in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Macquarie University. She is the Past-President of the
International Association for Statistical Education (IASE); an elected member and incoming Vice President of the
International Statistical Institute (ISI). Ayse’s research explores applications of statistics in health sciences and learning and teaching in statistics. Ayse is an academic who uses her statistical knowledge to improve health and wellbeing as well as improving learning and teaching of statistics. Ayse was a recipient of several learning and teaching awards for her outstanding contributions to student learning. Internationally, her contributions to statistics education were recognised by a prestigious Juárez Lincoln Martí (JLM) Award for International Educator, for the 11th International Congress of Statistical Education (ICOTS-11).
