This half-a-day careers showcase event will be of interest to career-young attendees looking to get some insight into future employment possibilities and also to less career-young people interested in hearing about a variety of different settings where statistics and machine learning are used and applied.

If you are thinking of a career in statistics involving computational statistics and/or machine learning, this is an event not to miss! 

 

The Computational Statistics and Machine Learning Section of the Royal Statistical Society are delighted to invite you to an event which showcases the wide spectrum of career paths available to young statisticians in the broad areas of computational statistics and machine learning.

The event will take place online (see link below) on Wednesday 1st of December  13.30 - 17.30.

This half-a-day event will provide a unique opportunity to hear first-hand the experiences of statisticians and machine learners working in:

- Microsoft Research (Javier Gonzalez)
- Lancaster University (Rebecca Killick)
- Boots (Mace Maclean)
- Elsevier (Harriet Muncey)
- LV= General Insurance (Shreena Patel)
- Jumping Rivers (Colin Gillespie)

The talks will be followed by a Q&A panel.

The speakers will discuss how they use statistics and machine learning in their jobs, what led them to these careers and offer tips for students interested in following a similar career path.
