We are accepting entries for our 2025 Campion Award for Excellence in Official Statistics, presented in partnership with the UK Statistics Authority and Civil Service World.
The award celebrates good practice in UK official statistics, recognising outstanding innovations, developments and challenges faced by government statisticians in providing both “business as usual” outputs and the data needed to tackle current policy priorities.
It is named in honour of former RSS president, the late Sir Harry Campion, who was also the first director of the UK Central Statistical Office, the forerunner to the ONS.
Last year’s winner was the ONS Explore Subnational Statistics team for their work improving availability and access to local data in the UK.
Commenting on this year’s launch, chair of the judging panel Dev Virdee said: ‘Every year with this award we see some fantastic examples of government statisticians working innovatively to deliver the data and analysis that we need, filling gaps in the statistics that are essential for informing policy decisions. I’m looking forward to seeing more examples of how data is being produced across the UK’s statistical system for the wider public good.’
