RSS launches AI Task Force

At its March meeting, RSS’s Council approved the creation of a new RSS task force focusing on artificial intelligence. We are now seeking applications from RSS members who are interested in either joining or chairing the group.

The RSS has a large number of groups with an interest in AI – a key aim of the task force will be to bring together a representative set of views on AI and help us to strategically plan our work in this area. We intend the group both to help communication between RSS members with an interest in the subject and to help raise the profile of the RSS’s work on this topic.

The task force’s terms of reference give more detail about our plans for the group.

We are looking for a member of the RSS to lead this work as chair of the task force. As chair you would act as a spokesperson for the RSS on matters around AI and are expected to be responsive in contributing to and agreeing policy positions and public-facing statements.

We are also seeking applications for membership of the task force. A large part of the membership of the group will be made up of representatives of other RSS bodies, so there are only a limited number of spaces for people to join the group as individuals.

We will maintain a list of all the people who applied for membership of the group and consult with you on matters around AI when possible.

To apply to join the group as a member or as the chair, please complete this short form

A number of RSS bodies (listed in the task force terms of reference) are encouraged to appoint a representative to the task force. If you are joining the task force as a representative of an RSS body please complete the form and indicate this. If you are joining the Task Force as a representative of an RSS section or group, you are also able to apply to act as chair.

If your section is not mentioned in the terms of reference, but would like to be included in the task force please contact policy@rss.org.uk

The deadline for applications to the Task Force is 12pm (noon) on 23 April 2024.
