Nicola Emmerson to stand down as RSS Director of Membership and Professional Affairs

Following almost 28 years of service, Nicola Emmerson is leaving the RSS at the end of June. Nicola has been an integral part of the Society, and many of you will have interacted with Nicola through your work with the RSS and at meetings and events over the last three decades. Nicola has made many significant contributions to the work of the RSS during her tenure and some of her achievements include:

• Growing the RSS membership year on year to over 12,000 members in 2024 
• Establishing the framework for RSS membership engagement 
• Negotiating and managing the amendments to our Royal Charter to enable the Society to expand its range of professional qualifications
• Developing the business case for and launching Significance Magazine, and working with the ASA to collaborate and jointly publish Significance
• Securing funding for Statisticians for Society from the National Lottery
• Building and successfully running the venue hire business at Errol St
• Negotiating the contract for moving to a new journal publisher
