We’re delighted to announce the new appointments to RSS Council, who will start their roles in January.
Following a six-week election in which all fellows of the Society were invited to vote, we have appointed the following individuals to join RSS Council for a term running until the end of 2028:
We’re also thrilled to announce Scott Heald as our new vice-president for external affairs, who will take over from Christl Donnelly in January. Scott, who is Associate Director & Head of Profession for Statistics at Public Health Scotland, has been an active member of the Society for many years, having previously been honorary officer for conferences and events and a member of our Covid-19 Task Force. He will chair our Campaigns Advisory Group, as well as our Statistical Excellence in Journalism Awards, among other activities for a two-year term.
Lucy Teece is our new honorary officer for sections and local groups with a four-year term. Lucy will oversee the sections and local group’s busy programme of activities, including their packed events calendar. An RSS Statistical Ambassador and former chair of the Young Statisticians Section, Lucy’s background is in medical statistics, having previously lectured in statistics at the University of Leicester.
Our new honorary officer for conferences and events for 2025 is Lisa McFetridge. Lisa, a senior lecturer in statistics at Queen’s University, Belfast will lead on the Society’s busy events programme, including our annual conference which will take place in Edinburgh in 2025. Lisa has been a member of the programme board for conferences and events for several years and is a former member of our Campaigns Advisory Group.
