The Social Statistics Section of the Royal Statistical Society aims to provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of a range of issues, methods and findings in social statistics. They organise and deliver an annual programme of events and activities to engage with statisticians working in areas related to social statistics, researchers who carry out empirical social research using quantitative data and users of results of empirical social research.
They welcome expressions of interest from anyone working in the field of social statistics, but are especially keen on applicants from the Government Statistical Service (GSS). As a committee member, you will work with other committee members to plan and deliver the section’s events and activities. They hold at least four committee meetings per year, which can be attended remotely via Microsoft Teams, or in person at Errol Street, London (travel expenses will be reimbursed). But much of their core business is conducted over email.
