We are pleased to announce that Simon Wood, from the University of Edinburgh, will be a keynote speaker at the RSS 2022 International Conference in Aberdeen this September.
Simon Wood is Professor of Computational Statistics at the University of Edinburgh. Originally trained in physics, he worked in biological dynamic modelling before developing interests in smoothing, regression models, statistical computing and the statistical inference with dynamic models. He wrote and maintains the R package mgcv for smooth mixed regression modelling and co-edited JRSSB from 2018-2021.
Simon joins Adrian Raftery, Jeni Tennison, Barnett Award winner Ruth King and David G Kendall Award winner Ewain Gwynne as keynote speakers at the conference.
