Paying tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, RSS chief executive, Stian Westlake said:
“The Trustees, Fellows and staff of the Royal Statistical Society are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
“I would like to give my sincere condolences to the Queen’s family on behalf of the Fellowship and the entire Society.”
Her Majesty became patron of the RSS following the death of her father, King George VI in 1952 and attended the Society’s 150th anniversary celebrations, along with her husband, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
At the reception, held at the Whitehall Banqueting House on 4 April, 1984, Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh met the officers of the Society and spoke with a number of fellows.
