Young Statisticians Section seeks new committee members

The Young Statisticians Section (YSS) of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the YSS committee for 2021.
The YSS exists to support and bring together statisticians in the first 10 years of their careers – including students. We run a number of events each year for young statisticians, including careers days, webinars, competitions, and a variety of sessions at the RSS Annual Conference, as well as supporting numerous other conferences and events in the statistical calendar. See our website, Facebook and Twitter for further details of our YSS events and activities!
Being a volunteer for the YSS committee is a commitment but very rewarding (and fun!)
We are looking for people with new and creative ideas for reaching out to the early-career statistics community, and to help organise events targeted at young statisticians. You will be expected to attend three committee meetings per year, represent the YSS and RSS at events (reasonable travel expenses paid), and help to plan and run our events.
If you would like to be considered for one of the committee positions, send an email (subject line “YSS Committee 2021”) to by 5pm on Sunday 25 October, with a short statement (up to 250 words) summarising your background and why you want to join.
Please note that to take up a position you must be or willing to become a full fellow of the RSS and within the first 10 years of your statistical career.
The names of the 2021 YSS committee will be announced at the annual general meeting.
The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
