The RSS is hosting an online event on 9 July for all fellows who’d like to know more about making the most of their RSS membership.
We held a similar face-to-face event last year at our London offices (pictured), which was well received by all who attended. This time, we hope we can reach even more members in our first ever online welcome event.
The work of the Society, we believe, is more critical than ever to support public understanding of the importance of statistics and data. This is particularly important during the current global health crisis, which members of our dedicated Covid-19 Task Force, along with many other members of our groups and sections, are working hard to address.
Hosted by our honorary officer for membership, Sara Hilditch, the online Teams meeting will feature talks from our current President Deborah Ashby (pictured at our previous fellows 'welcome' event) and incoming Chief Executive Stian Westlake, who joins the Society on 1 July.
It will also feature a talk on ‘Becoming a chartered professional’ from CStat Marie Oldfield, and Dr Rob Mastrodomenico will talk about the opportunities available to those who’d like to get more involved with the work of the Society.
While the event is aimed at fellows who have joined the Society in the past three years either as a fellow, GradStat or CStat, all fellows are welcome. ‘It is a chance to familiarise yourself with the Society and its work,’ said RSS member engagement manager Amaka Nwagbara, who organised the event.
The event is free to attend, but please register first and you will be sent a link to join.
