Nominations for 2021 International Prize in Statistics now open

Nominations for the International Prize in Statistics are open until August 15, 2020.

Awarded every other year, the International Prize in Statistics will next be presented at the International Statistical Institute-hosted World Statistics Congress in July 2021 in The Hague.

The RSS is one of five partner organisations involved in founding the prize (the others are: the American Statistical Association, the International Biometric Society, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the International Statistical Institute).

The ultimate goal of the award that totals at least $80,000 is to enhance public understanding of the depth and scope of statistics and put it on par with prominent science awards such as the Nobel, Abel and Shaw Prizes. Previous winners are Sir David Cox (2017) and Bradley Efron (pictured above: winner in 2019).

Details on how to nominate someone are now available on the statprize.org website.
