New award to recognise commitment to stats Code of Practice

The RSS has launched a new award that recognises trustworthiness and quality in statistics produced by organisations. The Voluntary Application Award in partnership with the Office for Statistics Regulation with Civil Service World as media partner.

The Office for Statistics Regulation's Code of Practice currently applies to everyone in an organisation producing official statistics, including senior leaders, policy professionals, communications staff and other analysts. The new Voluntary Application Award is for producers of data, statistics and analysis which are not official statistics, whether inside government or beyond, who have voluntarily committed to the Code.

Baroness Onora O’Neill of Bengarve, leading judge for the award commented: 'This new award is an exciting opportunity for those pioneering organisations that have voluntarily applied the Code to their statistics to gain additional recognition for their public commitment to high quality and trustworthiness.'

Judged by an expert judging panel, the winner and runners-up will be announced at the RSS’s annual Statistical Excellence Awards ceremony in London on 12 May 2020.

More information and an entry form (which needs to be submitted by 16 February 2020) can be found on the Voluntary Application award page.
