International Prize in Statistics welcomes nominations for 2019

The biennial International Prize in Statistics is now accepting nominations for the next prize, due to be presented in 2019.

Managed collaboratively between five major statistical organisations comprising the International Statistical Institute and Royal Statistical Society, the Prize was initially created to call public attention to the important role statistics, data analysis, probability, and the understanding of uncertainty have played in the past and are playing today in the advancement of society, science, technology and human welfare, with a decided focus on current developments.

Mirroring the successful approach employed by other prestigious scientific prizes such as the Nobel Prizes, the Clay Millennium Prizes, the Abel Prizes and the Shaw Prizes, the International Prize in Statistics recognises an individual statistician or team of statisticians for a single work or body of work. The prize this year is worth $85k.

Held every other year, World Statistics Congress in Kuala Lumpur.

Nominations are open until August 15, 2018. More information about the award and submitting nominations is available on Facebook page for regular updates.
