We're pleased to announce that Dr Hannah Fry will be giving the Significance lecture at Conference in Cardiff on Tuesday 4 September.
Hannah is a lecturer in the Mathematics of Cities at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at UCL. She works alongside physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists, architects and geographers to study the patterns in human behaviour - particularly in an urban setting.
She is also a well-known science broadcaster, having presented BBC documentaries including ‘The Joy of Data’, ‘Climate Change By Numbers’ and ‘Calculating Ada: The Countess of Computing’ (BBC4). She also presents ‘Music By Numbers’ on BBC Radio 1 and ‘The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry’ and ‘Computing Britain’ on Radio 4.
The lecture will coincide with the launch of Hannah's third book ‘Hello World’, which explores how algorithms are shaping our lives and will be published in September. Her previous books include ‘The Indisputable Existence of Santa Claus: The Mathematics of Christmas’ and ‘The Mathematics of Love: Patterns, Proofs, and the Search for the Ultimate Equation’.
Hannah joins a growing list of plenary speakers now confirmed for the RSS 2018 Conference, which also includes renowned polling expert John Curtice and National Statistician John Pullinger.
