Title: One way to impact industry
Abstract: In this talk, I wish to do two things: (i) introduce the Hartree Centre, which is part of the Science and Technology Facility Council, and (ii) present a recent collaborative work between the National Grid Electricity System Operator (NG-ESO) and the Hartree Centre on optimising energy dispatch based on CO2 emissions. In the first 15 minutes, I will introduce the Hartree Centre and display some of the works that go on there. In the rest of the talk, I will present a recent work with NG-ESO. The underlying question of the research is: How the operation of the UK energy grid would change if it was optimised based on carbon emissions rather than by the current approach which is predominately price-focused? In the talk, I will explain the motivation, the background, and the scope of the project in more detail.
