Have you ever wondered how important decisions are made while considering national climate change? James Murphy from the Met Office will discuss the UK Climate Projections - what information does this include, how is it combined with statistical methods to quantify uncertainty and how can it be used for decision making?

We have an online seminar planned for October 19th at 4pm, from James Murphy at the Met Office.

Informing risks and decisions using the UK Climate Projections - James Murphy, Met Office
The UK Climate Projections (UKCP) provide scenarios of climate variability and change through the 21st century, under alternative pathways for future greenhouse gas emissions. The scenarios are based on ensembles of climate model simulations that provide a range of plausible futures. These form the primary source of future projections for national climate change risk assessments.

UKCP results are used extensively to inform adaptation decisions in sectors including agriculture, biodiversity, business, energy, forestry, health, land use, transport and water. This presentation will describe the information available from UKCP and provide examples of its use in specific impacts studies. Examples will be given of how climate model results are combined with statistical methods to quantify uncertainties in projected changes and provide context for assessed impacts and risks.
