The RSS Finance and Economics Section is in need of a Chair and Secretary. The section focuses on organising seminars/workshops and other events each year which looks to foster and develop working relationships between statisticians, economists and other professionals working in finance, economics, actuarial and related commercial and policy areas.
Some of the events the section has planned are; Using machine learning and causal inference for evaluating air pollution control policies; Intangible investment and economic growth; The Effects of Monetary Policy on Consumer Spending: Insights from Australian Bank Transactions Data and more.
The role of a Chair is to support the section by providing a direction to the group whilst the role of the secretary is to organise committee meetings, agenda and minutes. Full training will be provided by the RSS.
