Are you passionate about statistics and data science and eager to make an impact in the field? Look no further! The Young Statisticians Section (YSS) of the Royal Statistical Society is on the hunt for dedicated individuals to join our 2025 Committee.
Who we are:
The YSS is all about fostering connections and providing support for early-career data professionals and students. We organize a variety of exciting events throughout the year, including career days, webinars, competitions and engaging sessions at the prestigious RSS Annual Conference. You can explore our website and X for a glimpse of our work throughout the year.
Why volunteer with us:
Being part of the YSS Committee is not just a commitment; it's an incredibly rewarding and fun experience! We're in search of creative minds brimming with fresh ideas to engage with the early-career community and help shape our events.
What you’ll be up to:
As a committee member, you'll attend three meetings annually and represent the YSS and RSS at events (we cover reasonable travel expenses). You'll also play a pivotal role in planning and executing our events in the RSS annual conference.
How to apply:
The committee is typically composed of a mix of students and early-career professionals, all within the first ten years of their career. We encourage a diversity of backgrounds, with previous committee members having worked in research, the public sector or in industry.
If you're excited to join our committee, simply send an email to
youngstatisticians@rss.org.uk with the subject line
"YSS Committee 2025 Application" followed by your name. Include a brief statement (up to 250 words) outlining your background and your motivation to join us. Please note that committee members are required to be / become full fellows of the RSS.
Important dates:
Applications are open now until
5pm on Sunday, 13 October 2024. We'll announce the members of the YSS Committee 2025 in late October 2024.
