The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) organizes 11-month Masters programmes in several centres across the continent. Directed at African graduates with mathematically-based degrees for employment preparation and higher postgraduate study, AIMS attracts some of the best students in Africa.
The Society has supported AIMS in Cameroon for several years by seeking volunteers who are prepared to teach an intensive three-week course in a statistical or data science area based on their professional interests, and for more extended visits as course tutors by early-career PhD graduates. There are also opportunities for remote research essay supervision.
Non-RSS members are considered by AIMS but are not eligible for RSS financial support.
