Paper planes, pints, and other props: A talk by Liam Brierley

On Thursday 8 December 2020, the RSS Glasgow Local Group welcomed Dr Liam Brierley (Institute of Population Health, University of Liverpool) to deliver a talk titled: 'Paper planes, pints, and other props: communicating stats to the public through interactivity'. The talk was briefly preceded by the local group’s AGM.

Liam is a statistical ambassador for the Royal Statistical Society and as such, has an interest in the public communication of statistics. He delivered a talk to an audience of 40, which got them thinking about designing effective outreach activities, and how interactivity can be incorporated into outreach to engage the audience.

We saw examples of audience participation delivered by Liam at the Edinburgh Fringe.
