The Reading local group of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is looking for new members to serve on its committee for 2020. We would particularly (but not only) welcome anyone with social media expertise or keen on publishing web content like blogs or similar.
As a committee member, you will get to contribute new ideas for local activities and help plan and deliver a programme of events. You will be joining an engaged and enthusiastic group from a diverse range of professions and sectors.
We usually organise 4-5 events a year to actively engage the local statistical community and anyone with an interest in statistics. Last year we organised an event on measuring women empowerment that was connected to a charity and we funded women empowerment in developing countries thanks to it. This year we are aiming at expanding our outreach in schools with students from a disadvantaged background.
If you would like to express interest or discuss joining the committee, please contact Leonardo Ripoli with a paragraph (up to 250 words) summarising your background, why you would like to join, and what you will contribute to the committee. Please note that to take up a position you will need to be a fellow of the RSS.
The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
