UKRI Landscape Decisions programme: Second call

UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) invites proposals for its Strategic Priorities Fund programme on 'Landscape Decisions: Towards a new framework for using land assets'. This is a four-year multidisciplinary programme jointly delivered by NERC, the Arts & Humanities Research Council, the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council, the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council and the Economic & Social Research Council on behalf of UKRI.

Projects are likely to focus on (but are not limited to) the following:

  • understanding the varied non-linearities and sensitivities of different modelling approaches for complex systems
  • mathematical theories and techniques for improving the performance of models working with 'big data' - both large, multiple, diverse, and complex data sets
  • techniques for combining models to capture feedbacks and interdependencies
  • techniques for dealing with structural and process uncertainty, systematic and random error propagation in complex models.

The first call on this topic was published in March 2019. This second call will support research or wider activities that require greater resources than achievable in the first small grants call. Applications to this call are not restricted to successful applicants in the small grants call.

Funds of up to £1.3 million are available for this call. Individual projects may request up to £300,000 (at 80% full economic cost) over two years. All projects must start by 1 February 2020.

Applicants must submit a Notification of Intent using the online registration form by 16:00 on 26 July 2019 for their full bid to be considered.
