The Natural Environment Research Council currently has two calls that might interest statisticians; both have had input from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) mathematical sciences team.
The first is a call for the announcement document. Programmes will almost certainly require mathematical scientists to work as part of a larger team to deliver the objectives.
Closing date for outlines is 15 May.
The second call is a small grants call for Landscape Decisions mathematical and statistical challenges, led by NERC, where £700,000 has been made available to fund around 15 projects of up to £50,000 for 12 months. Projects are expected to explore how we model coupled human-environment landscape systems with improved model robustness.
Closing date for proposals is 25 April.
