Teacher CPD event: Using ‘big data’ in the classroom, Newcastle

Are you a primary or secondary teacher of students ages 5-18?  Are you interested in finding out more about what big data is and to receive some practical training on the sourcing of data sets and visualisation examples?

Who is this CPD event for?

This event organised by the Royal Society is most suited for those teaching primary science, biology, geography, chemistry, maths, physics or any other subjects that use basic data sets.

What do I need to do to attend?

This all-day event, on 21 February 2019, is free to attend, however, a refundable deposit (up to seven days before the event) is required to secure your place. For more details and to reserve your place see the Eventbrite page.

Support to attend: Attendees to this CPD event who have signed up to the Royal Society Schools Network can claim up to £150 to help towards reasonable travel costs (with proof of expenses) for the day.

Who has been invited to speak at this event?

Hear from a range of speakers and engage in practical activities. Darren Macey, RSS Statistical Ambassador and co-author of Teaching Statistics; and Carole Haynes, RSS education manager, have been invited to speak on this occasion.

What will you gain from participating in this event?

The aim of this event is to develop confidence in teaching data science techniques, help develop professional networks and provide links to free resources for students.
