The UK Parliament has announced that it will conduct an inquiry into the governance of statistics, focusing on the role and performance of the UK Statistics Authority.
The inquiry is being undertaken by the cross-party Public Administration & Constitutional Affairs Select Committee (PACAC), which has asked for evidence to be received by 1 February.
The RSS National Statistics Advisory Group (NSAG) is starting to compile a submission to the Committee, on behalf of the Society. Members’ suggestions would be warmly welcomed and should be sent, please, to policy@rss.org.uk by Thursday 24 January.
A number of fellows have also indicated their desire to contribute to the inquiry in a personal, non-RSS capacity, or on behalf of the institution where they work.
Further information and the inquiry, including its full terms of reference, can be seen via the PACAC website.
