The Office for National Statistics, in partnership with the Centre for Homelessness Impact, is currently running a consultation on identifying new national measures which show the causes of homelessness.
Together the two organisations plan to draw up key indicators which will show how many people in the UK might be at risk of becoming homeless and provide a more in depth look at this complex issue. These indicators will look at factors which are known to contribute to homelessness and put real numbers against them to see how they change across the country.

The consultation closes on 10 July 2019.
Particularly welcomed is participation from anybody with knowledge of the indicators that already exist and who is familiar with the research that is currently underway, or anybody with experience of working with those who are affected by homelessness in the UK.
The results will be used to identify what measures should be explored and the first of these will be published on the CHI’s website in the autumn.
