It was great to see so many of you at the RSS International Conference last week. This was a record-breaking year, with over 700 delegates, leading to richer discussion, enhanced networking and an excellent atmosphere in Brighton. Thank you to everyone that came and made it such a memorable event.
Having so many statistics and data professionals in one place was a timely reminder of the importance of understanding the needs of the wider community of users as we strive for a more informed, data-driven future. I’m pleased to announce that, following the recommendations of Denise Lievesley’s Independent Review of the UK Statistics Authority, we are working with the UKSA to establish the UK Statistics Assembly, which will meet for the first time next January.
Finally, as you may have seen in your inboxes, we opened the 2024 Council elections yesterday, and I encourage you to read through our candidate bios and statements and have your say on who you would like to represent you on Council for the next four years.
Best wishes,
Andrew Garrett, RSS President
