TEAM INFORMATION
The Portfolio Management and Insights team has a wide range or responsibilities within AHRC. The team includes the data function of AHRC which provides support and management of reporting and analysis capabilities, ensuring the organisation can draw the necessary insights from suitable information. The team also provides support to assurances and risk processes as well as leading on continuous improvement approaches.
PURPOSE
This role will be responsible for the production of data across the organisation, whilst also engaging with AHRC staff to ensure data analysis drives evidence-based decision making. By managing and overseeing AHRC’s current reporting dashboards the role will constantly ensure AHRC’s data reporting requirements are effectively met. The role will also deliver wider data and analysis solutions across the AHRC, recommending innovative and creative ways to analyse and present information to inform decision making. Through the use of AHRC’s current visualisation and analysis tools the role will provide guidance to teams across the organisation, including suggesting the most suitable analysis reports to meet their needs. The position will also contribute to the oversight of tools and solutions, feeding into further development of AHRC’s data and analysis capabilities.
MAIN OUTPUTS & ACTIVITIES
- Creation of innovative data visuals in Tableau to enable AHRC to analyse its funding and the wider research landscape
- Providing general support and training on use of data analysis and reports to non-data experts
- Support and fulfilment of general reporting requirements of AHRC
- Promoting use of data to colleagues across the organisation and supporting wider data reporting collection and analysis
- Answering of ad-hoc data requests from external stakeholders
- Engaging with other research councils to share best practice and support harmonisation across UKRI
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
- You have sound numeric skills, including the ability to independently prepare data that can be used as evidence to support decisions
- You have the ability to collect reporting requirements from a variety of stakeholders before producing data reports that meet the needs of the stakeholder
- You have advanced expertise in Excel and experience or working knowledge of SQL, Alteryx, or Data Visualisation tools including Tableau
- You are a good team player and are able to provide support to all colleagues and proactively share your knowledge and expertise where necessary
- You are an excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, enabling you to communicate with a range of colleagues
- You have strong attention to detail and can produce clear, replicable data reports
