The next RSS Manchester local group event will be an online seminar with Ben Mawdsley.

Ben Mawdsley is a Machine Learning Engineer at City Football Group, where he works to develop and productionise software for use across the group clubs.

Abstract

Football has been undertaking a technological revolution in recent decades as enhanced football analytics embeds itself into a growing range of decisions. Players are monitored more than ever before, enabling statistical evaluations in myriad new and novel ways. Ben will introduce the kinds of data used in football today, presenting some applications which can lead to enhanced understanding of player performance and in game strategies, before highlighting some open questions and new opportunities in the field.
