Policy recommendations

Informed by the case studies and principles in this initiative, we have developed a set of recommendations. These outline practical steps policymakers can take to ensure that data and analyses are able to feed into decision-making in pressurised situations.

The five recommendations cover:

  • Data consideration – including collection, sharing and analysis plans
  • Data literacy training for policy-makers
  • Use of confidence ratings alongside statistical outputs
  • Team structure to enable evidence to feed into decision-making
  • Funding decisions to consider long-term value and the ability to sustain pressurised work when necessary.
