Guy Medals in Silver


The Guy Medal in Silver is a mid-career award that recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution to statistical science though work of special merit published in RSS Journals. Work published in other journals may also be taken into account. 

The Guy Medal in Silver is awarded annually.   

Nominations for 2027 are open between June to 31 October 2026

    The Guy Medal in Silver is a mid-career award that recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution to statistical science through work of special merit published in RSS Journals. Work published in other journals may also be taken into account.  

    Eligibility criteria for nominations for the Guy Medal in Silver: 

    • Fellow of the Society for at least two consecutive years on 1 January in the year the medal is to be awarded 
    • Paper or papers must have been published in RSS Journals 

    Nominations should demonstrate: 

    • High-quality, innovative work that has made an important contribution to the field of statistics, and some of which should have been published in RSS journals.
    • ​Important contributions have been published in RSS Journals. 

    Nominations must provide sufficient detail for the committee to understand the scientific merit, originality and importance of the work.

    Christl Donnelly2026 recipient: Christl Donnelly
    Christl has made outstanding contributions to the development and application of statistical and biomathematical methods to analyse patterns of infectious diseases. Her extensive publication list includes five papers in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A, one of which was presented at an RSS special topic meeting on COVID-19 transmission.
