We have published updated versions of our Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure, reaffirming the Society’s commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards across its membership.
The revised Code of Conduct applies to all fellows of the Society and replaces all previous versions. It sets out the principles and expectations that underpin professional statistical practice and the values of the RSS community. The update strengthens guidance on professional integrity, responsible communication of statistics and respectful engagement with colleagues and the wider public.
Alongside this, the Society has introduced an updated Disciplinary Procedure, which provides a clear framework for how we will respond to and investigate potential breaches of the Code. The procedure outlines each stage of the process – from initial assessment through to possible outcomes – ensuring transparency, consistency and fairness for all parties involved.
These updates reflect our ongoing work to support ethical practice and maintain trust in the statistical profession. Fellows are encouraged to familiarise themselves with both documents, which are now available on the RSS website.
For any queries regarding the Code of Conduct or the Disciplinary Procedure, fellows may contact the Society’s Professional Services team.
