Accuro - Supporting People With A DisabilityAnalysis of feedback on the services and support offered to patients, families and carers by the National Kidney Federation

The National Kidney Federation is the national kidney charity run by kidney patients for kidney patients.  It has two roles, campaigning for improvements to renal provision and treatment, and national patient support services.

The request

A questionnaire was distributed to NKF members to find out how the charity has helped patients and carers and if the services they provide have proved useful. This will help shape the NKF going forward and will ensure that patients receive the support they need.

The approach

Data from almost 500 respondents was shared with the Statisticians for Society volunteer, and consisted of closed questions, demographic questions, and open-ended (comment) questions.  Survey responses were analysed using descriptive statistics and charts, and comments were summarised.

The result

A report was presented to the National Kidney Federation which summarised the results of the survey and provided recommendations for focus areas including increasing awareness amongst Kidney Patient Associations, and improvements to the website, newsletters and magazines.

Impact and benefits

'NKF now has a better understanding of what our supporters require from the charity. We will be able to ensure the services and support offered to patients, families and carers are beneficial and any areas requiring improvement will be addressed.

Working with Diana has been a positive experience and she quickly understood the objectives and requirements of the survey.'
