We are pleased to announce that Gordana Radojević will give this year’s Significance Lecture as part of the RSS 2026 International Conference in Bournemouth.
Gordana Radojevic is an economist and statistician with over 20 years of senior-level experience in official statistics and public sector reform. She is president of the Association of Statisticians and Demographers of Montenegro (DSD) and a lecturer of demography and statistics at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro.
In 2021, after completing the 2011 population census, she was unlawfully dismissed as director of the Statistical Office of Montenegro (Monstat) by the prime minister. She fought back and has since cleared her name: “To all fellow statisticians: never compromise on professional principles.” For the Significance Lecture, Gordana will discuss her experiences with Ron Wasserstein, ASA executive director, who is also giving the President’s Invited Lecture.
Gordana and Ron join keynote speaker Bhramar Mukherjee in a growing programme of events running from the 7th to the 10th September in Bournemouth. For more details about the conference and information on how to register, see our event page.
The lecture is named for Significance magazine.
