We are pleased to announce that Baroness Alexandra Freeman will give the Campion (President’s Invited) Lecture at our 2025 International Conference, to be held in Edinburgh from 1–4 September.
Baroness Freeman, a crossbench member of the House of Lords since 2024, is renowned for her work in science communication and evidence-based policy. Prior to her peerage, she served as Executive Director of the Winton Centre for Risk and Evidence Communication at the University of Cambridge, where she focused on improving public understanding of uncertainty and risk. She also led the development of Octopus, an open-access platform aimed at reforming scientific publishing.
Before her academic career, Baroness Freeman spent 16 years at the BBC, producing acclaimed science programmes such as
Walking with Beasts,
Life in the Undergrowth, and
Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.
She joins a packed
programme of events, with
David McCandless,
Heather Battey and
Claire Miller already announced as keynote speakers. We will announce further keynote speakers in the coming months.
