We are pleased to announce that Dr Helen Ogden will be the programme chair for the 2026 RSS International Conference.
Helen Ogden is an Associate Professor in Statistics at the University of Southampton, and Deputy Director of the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute. Before joining Southampton in 2016, she did a PhD and postdoc at the University of Warwick. Her research interests are in statistical modelling, theory and computation, including flexible regression, models for longitudinal and clustered data, and inference using approximations to the likelihood. Helen was previously a member of the Society’s Conference Board from 2020 to 2023.
Helen said, “I was delighted to be asked to be programme chair for the 2026 conference. I am particularly glad to see the conference return to Bournemouth, where it was due to be held in 2020, but moved online due to the pandemic.
“We want the conference to be a highlight of the statistical calendar, with top quality talks to catch up on the latest developments, and time to meet old friends and make new ones. We need your help to make that happen, so please start thinking about how you could contribute to the conference.”
The 2026 Conference will take place in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England, from 7-10 September 2026.
