Nicolas Chopin becomes new joint editor of Series B Journal

We are delighted to announce that Nicolas Chopin, professor of data sciences at the ENSAE, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, will take up the role of joint editor for our Series B Journal in January 2026. He will join Hani Doss and Xuming He for a term of three years, succeeding Daniela Witten, who will complete her term at the end of December 2025.

Nicolas graduated from École Polytechnique in 1997 and from ENSAE in 1999. In 2003, he obtained a doctoral degree in Statistics from Université Paris VI, working under the supervision of Christian P. Robert. He received the 2003 Savage award for the best PhD dissertation in Bayesian Statistics (theory and methods). His research interests focus on Bayesian computation in Statistics and Machine Learning, particularly Markov chain Monte Carlo, Sequential Monte Carlo, and variational approximations.

Nicolas is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and has also previously served as associate editor for Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B, as well as for Statistical Methods and ApplicationsAnnals of Statistics, Biometrika, and Statistics and Computing.
