The RSS has launched the first version of its data science content platform,
Real World Data Science, with a call for members and others to contribute.
The project is a spinout from the
RSS Data Science Task Force. It is being built for data science students, practitioners, leaders and educators as a space to share, learn about and be inspired by real-world uses of data science.
Case studies of how data science is applied to problems and challenges in business, public policy and beyond will be a core feature of the platform, as will “
explainers” of the ideas, concepts, tools, and methods that make data science projects possible.
Real World Data Science will also play host to
exercises and other material to support the training and development of data science skills. Profiles of those working in the field will showcase the range and diversity of career paths and skillsets.
Editor Brian Tarran said: “As an RSS project, we of course want to highlight the vital role of statistics within data science. But Real World Data Science is intended for all data scientists, from all different academic backgrounds, as a place to gather, share and learn.”
The Real World Data Science call for contributions is online at
