The organisers of this September’s RSS 2021 International Conference in Manchester have announced that the conference format will take a blended approach, with some content available to view online.
Scott Heald, RSS Honorary Officer for conferences, explained, 'We recognise that even in normal circumstances not everyone is able to travel to the conference and this year will be even more challenging, especially for our international participants. Therefore, we have taken the decision to provide online access to a selection of content using the same platform successfully deployed for last year’s online RSS Conference.'
The online platform being created will enable at least 25 hours of content from the conference to be viewed either live or on-demand, including all keynote sessions and a selection of invited topic sessions. In addition, attendees – both in Manchester and online – will be able to create a profile and message each other, as well as contact sponsors and exhibitors.
Matt Sperrin, programme chair for RSS 2021, added, 'We are aiming to deliver a familiar RSS Conference experience for those able to attend in person in Manchester – they will also be able to benefit from the online platform as the streamed sessions will be available on-demand for 30 days post-conference. Also, those coming to Manchester for just one or two days will be able to view sessions live online on the other days.'
Further details, including registration options for viewing the online content, will be announced shortly.
Registration for attending in person is open with a discount available until 31 July (RSS fellows receive additional discounts).
