The Statistical Computing Section of the Royal Statistical Society will from now on be known as the Computational Statistics and Machine Learning Section.
The group is for all those interested in the use of computational science and technology in modern statistical analysis, the methodological development of statistical and machine learning algorithms and their application to modern statistics and data science.
Theodore Kypraios, who chairs the section, said: 'We have decided to broaden the remit of our Section to recognise the evolution of statistical computing and enhance UK research and strengthen the synergies between Computational Statistics and Machine Learning by encouraging and facilitating communication between both domains. The CSML Section will provide the leadership that will be required to ensure that the Statistical Machine Learning community in the UK has a natural professional body that it could adopt as its main UK home.'
As with all of our other sections and special interest groups, the CSML section will organise meetings and facilitate interaction and promote and disseminate research and developments in this particular area.
