Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Home Office, Professor John Aston, has joined the line-up of keynote speakers for RSS 2020 International Conference in Bournemouth next September.
John Aston is professor of statistics in the Statistical Laboratory within the Department of Pure Maths and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge. He has been Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Home Office since 2017.
John's research focuses on many areas of applied statistics, often involving time series or functional data, and ranges from neuroimaging to linguistics, and from forensics to economics. John previously held academic positions in the US, in Taiwan and at Warwick. He was one of the founding trustees of the Alan Turing Institute, and the founding director of Cambridge's Centre for Mathematics in Imaging Healthcare. Read more about John on his web page.
