Mark Girolami, the Sir Kirby Laing Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge, has been added to the keynote speakers for the Royal Statistical Society’s International Conference taking place in Bournemouth this September.
His talk ‘Digital Twins: The Sense and Statistics’ will describe the pivotal role Statistical Science is playing in making contemporary industrial innovations, such as the coupling via measured data of a system with a computer model, a reality.
Professor Girolami also holds the Royal Academy of Engineering research chair in data centric engineering at Cambridge. He was one of the founding directors of the Alan Turing Institute after which he was appointed as the Institute’s strategic programme director, where he established and continues to lead the Lloyd’s Register Foundation Programme on Data Centric Engineering.
