This year the Data Science and AI section are hosting a series of events to support practitioner data scientists. These are aimed to support those in their early career but we hope they will be useful for everyone.

The first of these events will be hosted by the tireless Piers Stobbs and Giles Pavey on the subject of " How to stay up to date as a data scientist.

Every month Piers scours the internet to find you the most up to date information on how you can stay on top of the rapidly changing world of AI, Statistics and Machine Learning. This comes packaged up as a monthly newsletter that reaches thousands of data scientists.

Piers Stobbs has spent much of his career building and leading high-performing data and AI teams from the ground up. He served as Chief Data Officer at the FTSE 250 company MoneySuperMarket and at the digital startup Cazoo, which he helped scale into a UK unicorn. Following a role as VP of Science at Deliveroo and leadership positions at Dunnhumby and in quantitative finance, Piers is now the co-founder and Chief Data and AI Officer at Epic Life, a startup focused on bringing personal preventative healthcare to the public through AI.

Giles Pavey is Director of Data Science for the multinational consumer goods company Unilever. Alongside this work, Giles is the Chair of Industrial Advisors for the Oxford University Centre for Doctoral Training in Industrial Mathematics and also performs this role at the UCL AI Centre, where he is an Honorary Professor. Giles has been Vice Chair of the Royal Statistical Society Data Science Section for the last four years.
