A Level Statistics: The Successes and Obstacles of a Lesser Known Qualification
Ali Everett

Whether you are in England, Wales or Scotland, employers and higher education employers have heard of A Level Mathematics. But criticism of the Statistics content within A Level Mathematics has been around for as long as we can remember.  A Level Statistics is a qualification dedicated to the application and real-world scenarios of statistics which addresses some of these criticisms. But it is still a small entry subject. I will be giving a consolidated view of a large community of A Level Statistics teachers in regards to the benefits and successes of this qualification, together with the obstacles we face as Statistics teachers of 16-18 year olds.

Significant Events from an Advanced Higher Statistics Classroom
Nevil Hopley

Nevil's talk will describe the developmental journey that the Scottish Qualification Authority's Advanced Higher Statistics course has undertaken over the last decade. He will then showcase the technical skills that are developed by those who study it, accompanied by liberal sprinklings of insightful comments from past students.
