The LMS Women in Mathematics Committee, of which the RSS is a member, is conducting a study of the pipeline in UK mathematical sciences, open to anyone 'currently employed in a UK university in a Mathematics or related department in a research, teaching, enterprise, outreach or other mathematical role.'
The survey, which can be accessed at lboro.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/academic-pipeline-survey, is the primary data collection mechanism for the Academic Lifetimes Study, which aims to understand the 'academic pipeline' in UK mathematical sciences from the perspective of how individuals have moved through that pipeline.
The goals of the study are:
1) To understand what is necessary to ensure a continued pool of suitable individuals to staff UK universities, and
2) To understand what barriers may exist to career progression for academic mathematicians in the UK with a view to developing policies to support career progression for all.
The survey closes on 29 February.
The study is preregistered with AsPredicted and you may read the preregistration for full study details. Before starting the survey, you may find it useful to have a copy of your CV on hand, as you will be asked about dates of all of the positions you have held.
