Mapping the Landscape of Statistical Organisations
An interactive workshop hosted by the International Development Section
In recent discussions, the RSS’s international development section has seen a growing interest in
understanding the international statistical landscape. That is the global community of organisations that support statistics and statisticians from national societies to regional networks and international associations.
This workshop invites participants to start
building a map of this landscape together. We’ll explore what such a map should include, how it could be organised, and what knowledge each of us can contribute. There is no draft model, or fixed framework - just an open, collaborative space to begin shaping it together.
Session outline:
• Welcome & Goals: A quick look at why we’re mapping this landscape and what we hope to get out of the session
• Group Exploration: A shared discussion about what a map of statistical associations could look like and the key questions we should consider
• Breakout Discussions: A chance for everyone to share insights, examples, regional knowledge, and ideas for how the map might be structured
• Synthesis & Next Steps: Bringing everything together and talking about where we go from here
Join us to help sketch the first contours of this global map.
