’A CELEBRATION OF RSS DISCUSSION MEETINGS'
This Members Week session has been designed to celebrate our traditional and highly valued Discussion Meetings (formerly known as Ordinary Meetings) with an in-person and online gathering.
Many highly cited, cutting edge papers have been read at these meetings since first introduced in 1834. They have been open to discussion from RSS members and non-members alike with all comments published along with the paper itself and a reply from the authors.
The open nature of the meetings has further evolved with meetings now held online as well as in person, often at Errol St and once a year at our annual conference.
This meeting is jointly-hosted by the chair of the Discussion Meetings Committee and Honorary Officer for Discussion Meetings, Shirley Coleman, and the Discussion Papers Editor, Adam Sykulski. We are also delighted to introduce the next chair, Simon Day, who takes up the role of Honorary Officer for Discussion Meetings in January 2024. And we are honored to welcome a number of very special guests who are leading statisticians as well as having a close relationship with Discussion Meetings. This Members Week session will be a great opportunity to find out more about these unique, traditional events in a relaxed setting and to network with other members, authors and editors.
REFRESHMENTS
Following the event, there will be an opportunity to chat and get to know everyone better with nibbles and refreshments served from 5pm to 6:30pm. There are only 30 places available so please book soon to ensure you get a place!
