We’re delighted to announce that the Alliance for Data Science Professionals (AfDSP), of which the RSS is a founding member, is a finalist in the 2024 British Data Awards.
The British Data Awards is an annual event to discover and celebrate the UK’s data success stories. The Alliance, established in 2022 to create industry-wide professional standards for data science, is a finalist in two categories – education initiative of the year and not-for-profit of the year. Other finalists include Octopus Energy, Women in Data and the Royal College of Nursing.
Commenting on the news, RSS CEO Dr Sarah Cumbers said, ‘I'm thrilled that the collaborative work of the Alliance for Data Science Professionals has been recognised in this way – and particularly grateful to the RSS staff and members who contributed to the development of the first professional standards for data science at the centre of the achievement.’
Chair of the Alliance, Prof Edward Rochead, added: ‘I’m thrilled by the Alliance being chosen to be a finalist in the British Data Awards 2024. It is a great tribute to the work of the Alliance, led by my predecessor Professor Rachel Hilliam, who worked through the pandemic to deliver a common standard for Data Science Professionals. This means that the data science community now has a recognised professional certification, and routes to achieving it via several relevant professional bodies.’
The winners will be announced on the 8 May at an awards ceremony in London.
